Father's Day in Belize

            Everyone woke up today later than yesterday feeling acclimated to the weather and their cabins. We started off the day with a delicious breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and hash browns with lots of amazing, fresh, homemade juices. Also, once again, the food was not disappointing. By the time breakfast ended, nature decided to dump rain on us. Then, at 9:20, we got on the bus and went to Blue Hole National Park. We arrived at 10:20, and started hiking to the one of the caves, St. Herman’s Cave. During our hike, we encountered the wonderful and beautiful rainforest. We saw many species of plants and animals and took many pictures. We got to St. Herman’s Cave and plunged into the darkness. It was slippery and dark, but we were able to reach the end. Then, just as we were exiting the cave, the rain started again, even harder than before. We then hiked back through the rainforest (in pouring rain) to the bus. By the time we made it back, we were all drenched. We then got on the bus and drove to the Blue Hole. We had a lunch of mac & cheese, chicken meatballs, and mashed potatoes. Like breakfast, the food was exquisite. Then, one of our guides and friend, Chester, took out a tarantula he found on the hike. Everyone crowded around and dared each other to hold it. Everyone got a turn holding it and letting it crawl on his or her head or body. All of us then got changed and jumped in the Blue Hole to swim around. It was still raining but we didn’t care. Afterwards, we hopped back onto the bus and returned to Monkey Bay. We had free time, so people did whatever they wanted. Some of us swung in the hammocks, while others played a pickup game of soccer. After that we played another game and had an amazing dinner. We are ready for tomorrow and what comes with it.
